Financing, design, construction and maintenance of the new Durham Region Courthouse, featuring 33 courtrooms.
THE BACKGROUND
With approximately 440,000 sq ft, the courthouse more than doubled the space previously provided by 8 separate facilities located throughout the Region of Durham.
Project revenues are availability-based and paid by the Province of Ontario.
The project has been recognized for its achievements by CCPPP (2007 Award of Merit for Project Financing & 2010-2011 Silver Award for Infrastructure), by the American Institute of Architects (2008 Academy of Architecture for Justice Knowledge Community Justice Facility Review), by ReNew Canada (2008 Top 100 Infrastructure projects in Canada), by the Canadian Design-Build Institute (2010 Award of Excellence in Community Development-2nd Place), by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (2011 Green Building Award of Excellence) and by the Building Owners and Managers Association Go Green Plus Program (2013 Earth Award).
