Amber Infrastructure (‘Amber’), the international infrastructure specialist, is pleased to announce that together with its development partner Hudson Energy Enterprises (‘Hudson’), it has successfully completed the sale of its ownership of Flint Mine Solar, a utility scale solar project in upstate New York (‘the Project’).

Amber and Hudson partnered in 2017 to secure land and undertake permitting of a 100MW solar array in Greene County, New York. In 2018, the Project was awarded a 20-year agreement for Renewable Energy Credits by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority after a competitive procurement directly linked to implementing the objectives of the New York Renewable Energy Standard. The Project was amongst the first utility scale solar projects to be certified under New York’s comprehensive permitting process in 2021. When built, Flint Mine Solar will be the largest solar facility in NYISO Zone G, one of the closest designated electrical generating zones to New York City.

The Project will provide widespread and long-term environmental, economic and cultural benefits to the State, Greene County and the towns of Athens and Coxsackie as well as to local landowners and service providers. The development of the Project directly contributes to the achievement of New York State’s ambitious clean energy and climate goals for 70% of energy to come from renewable energy sources by 2030. The Project has permanently conserved the Flint Mine Hill archaeological site and will create a 300-acre grassland wintering raptor habitat.

This investment demonstrates Amber’s abilities as an active greenfield developer, reflects its long-term commitment to investing in sustainable energy assets and is additive to its track record progressing critical infrastructure that supports government policy and stakeholder needs and aspirations.
