THE BACKGROUND

3SIIF acquired a significant stake in Enery, a renewable energy platform and independent power producer, led by a team with an established track record in acquiring and developing Solar Photovoltaic (‘PV’) assets.

Enery owns a portfolio of 156MW of operating solar generation assets in Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Slovakia and has a significant development portfolio of over 2GW in a number of countries in the Three Seas region, including Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia and Austria. The Three Seas region comprises Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

In line with global Net Zero commitments, the Central and Eastern European (‘CEE’) region is expected to present substantial opportunities for renewables investment in the near term. PV generation has yet to be widely deployed in the CEE despite the ideal conditions with high levels of irradiation and availability of suitable land.

Project highlights include:

  • Operating platform with potential greenfield expansion opportunities
  • Energy transition catalyst, supporting a solar-led transition from fossil fuels to low carbon generation
  • Experienced management team with a track record of operating in the CEE region
